This program provides the opportunity for children at local shelters to celebrate seasonal events with UpSpring volunteers. This celebrating is important for a child's social & emotional well-being, which enables them to learn more effectively at school.

As research shows, social and emotional well-being is the most important indicator of personal, academic, and professional success. UpSpring Celebrates embraces this research and creates an environment where social & emotional well-being can be nurtured; thereby empowering these kids to perform better in school.

Volunteer groups who partner with UpSpring for this program are asked to provide food (dinner) and activities/games for children experiencing homelessness in a shelter. It is recommended that the celebration have a theme based on the current season (Halloween, Summer Fun, etc.) - creativity is encouraged! Celebrates events occur once per month and last about two hours (including set-up).

The following months are still in need of volunteer groups to host an event:

  • January 2017 / 5:00 p.m.
  • February 23, 2017 / 3:00 p.m.
  • May 2017 / 5:00 p.m.
  • June 22, 2017 / 3:00 p.m.
  • July 18, 2017 / 4:30 p.m.
